HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH AFTER A DENTAL EXTRACTION

After a dental extraction, it is important to properly care for the extraction site to prevent complications and ensure a quick recovery. Here are some tips for taking care of your teeth after a dental extraction:

1. After the dental extraction, it is important to rest for at least 24 hours to avoid excessive bleeding or additional discomfort. Avoid engaging in physical activities or intense sports during this time.

2. Apply ice to the extraction site for 10-15 minutes every hour during the first 24 hours after the extraction. This will help reduce swelling and pain.

3. Your dentist will prescribe pain medication to control the pain after the extraction. Take the pain medication as directed and do not take it on an empty stomach.

4. During the first few days after the extraction, avoid hard and hot foods such as nuts, candies, coffee, and tea. Opt for soft and cold foods such as yogurt, ice cream, mashed potatoes, and cold soups.

5. After the dental extraction, brush your teeth carefully, avoiding the extraction site. Do not rinse your mouth vigorously, as this may dislodge the blood clot that forms in the extraction site and cause more bleeding.

6. Schedule a follow-up appointment with your dentist so they can check the extraction site and ensure that you are recovering properly.
